San Jose Earthquakes vs. LA Galaxy Showdown: Coach Vanney Praises Pec as an ‘Inexhaustible Dynamo’

This season, Gabriel Pec has become a standout performer for the LA Galaxy in the MLS, with a tally of six goals and an equal number of assists.

Recently, the Galaxy clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Real Salt Ditch, elevating them to tie with their local rivals and Real at a notable 37 points atop the Western Conference standings.

In that triumph, Pec struck his sixth goal of the current MLS campaign and has dished out half a dozen assists as well.

With a forthcoming clash against the San Jose Earthquakes, Greg Vanney couldn’t help but heap accolades on Pec.

“This bloke is indefatigable. He’s got the stamina of an ox,” he remarked, according to The Galactic Tribune.

“To him, our hectic schedule might as well be a walk in the park, given his track record of playing an insane number of games over the last few seasons.”

“His knack for finessing his way past defenders, whether he’s cutting inside from the right or storming down the left flank, continually puts our opponents on the back foot. It’s been a joy watching him adapt and thrive here,” he added.

Vanney also showered praise on the Galaxy’s defense for keeping back-to-back clean sheets.

“Achieving consecutive shutouts is quite rare for us. It significantly bolsters our team’s confidence,” Vanney shared.

PLAYERS TO LOOK OUT FOR

San Jose Earthquakes – Jeremy Ebobisse

Ebobisse poses a significant threat to the Galaxy, having scored 13 goals against them, more than any other club in his MLS career.

LA Galaxy – Dejan Joveljic

While Pec is in fine form, Joveljic is the leading scorer for the Galaxy this season, netting 11 times in league matches.

FORECAST FOR THE MATCH: LA GALAXY TO PREVAIL

The Galaxy are currently enjoying a three-match winning streak, a feat last achieved back in late 2020. Their run back then ended with a goalless draw at San Jose.

Meanwhile, the Earthquakes are reeling from a 6-2 thrashing by LAFC just last Saturday—a stark contrast in form.

Historically, the Earthquakes’ current season echoes the dismal performance of Tampa Bay Mutiny in 2001, who lost 16 of their first 20 matches.

LA Galaxy has recently dominated the Earthquakes in their encounters, aiming for their fourth consecutive victory over them—a historic milestone in their long-standing rivalry.

OPTA PREDICTED OUTCOME

San Jose Earthquakes – 29%

LA Galaxy – 46.5%

Draw – 24.5%
