Newcastle Offloads Young Talents Minteh and Anderson to Adhere to Premier League Financial Regulations

Newcastle United has offloaded two promising talents to stay aligned with the Premier League’s fiscal rules.

The transfers of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively, were crucial to abide by the Profit and Sustainability Regulations before June 30.

Falling foul of these regulations could have cost them points in the 2024-25 season.

Interest in Minteh surged after his fruitful loan spell at Feyenoord. Despite talks of an Everton move involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Brighton clinched his signature on a five-year term.

The 19-year-old forward, acquired for a hefty £33 million, impressed in the Eredivisie with 10 goals and five assists over 27 matches. His 123 dribble attempts were among the league’s highest.

On the other hand, Anderson has sailed to Forest, a club previously penalized for breaching the fiscal guidelines like Everton.

Rising through Newcastle’s own ranks, the 21-year-old midfielder had appeared in 55 games for the team.

Anderson, who still seeks his first Premier League goal, committed to a five-year arrangement with Forest, fetching Newcastle a cool £35 million.

Goalie Odysseas Vlachodimos has made the opposite journey, transferring from Forest to Newcastle.

Additionally, in an attempt to regulate their financial disparities within the permitted £105 million loss over three years, Newcastle proposed a deal for Anthony Gordon with Liverpool.

Recently, Manchester United reportedly finalized a compensation agreement with Newcastle for Dan Ashworth, their former sporting director desiring a Red Devils switch since early this year.
