Kompany Secures Ito as His Premier Acquisition for Bayern

Vincent Kompany has ushered in his tenure at Bayern Munich by recruiting Hiroki Ito from Stuttgart.

The newcomer pens a deal that binds him to the club until 2028, marking the inaugural acquisition of the Kompany era.

Originally from Jubilo Iwata, Ito arrived at Stuttgart on loan in 2021. His attachment to the squad became permanent a year thereafter.

During his stint at Stuttgart, he chalked up 97 matches across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in their runner-up Bundesliga finish and subsequent Champions League slot in the 2023-24 season.

“It’s a massive privilege to join one of the globe’s premier clubs,” Ito expressed on Bayern’s website.

“The reverence for Bayern stretches to Japan too. My tenure at Stuttgart was marked with full dedication and gratitude. I’m pumped for this new chapter in Munich and eager to aid Bayern in hoisting numerous trophies.”

Ito articulated his eagora for progression: “Shifting to Bayern represents an ideal step forward.”

The previous season saw Bayern trail behind Stuttgart in the league, snagging third place and halting their streak of 11 straight titles. They also stumbled in the Champions League semi-finals.
