Julian Nagelsmann denies Bayern Munich talks

Julian Nagelsmann has denied talks with Bayern Munich about the possibility of replacing Hansi Flick as manager.

The RB Leipzig boss is one of the most ranked coaches in Europe, leading Die Roten Bullen to a Champions League semi-final last season at the age of 33. Before coming to Leipzig, he performed well at Hoffenheim, a job he left only 28 years.

According to many reports, Nagelsmann is one of the names being considered to take over at the Allianz Arena, with Flick’s hot favorite to take over as Germany’s boss after this summer’s European Championships.

On the press question, however, the RB Leipzig boss denied that he would take over in Bayern. “There were no talks and there are no talks between me and Bayern Munich. Same for my agents,” he said, quoted by Goal.

At the start of the season, the thought of Flick leaving would have been unthinkable for the Bayern hierarchy. After taking over from Niko Kovac halfway through the 2019/2020 campaign, he placed the ship and guided his side to a famous Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Pokal treble.

Things have not gone so smoothly for Flick this time. The Bundesliga title race is still alive with six matches to play, while Die Roten was dumped out of the DFB Pokal by other teams Holstein Kiel.

Recently, Bayern ended their dream of holding the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain knocking them out in the quarter-finals in what was a thoroughly entertaining tie for neutrals.

Although Nagelsmann denies having been contacted over the potentially vacant position yet, Bayern can still pursue him in the summer. 90min understands that Die Roten is also ready to test Jurgen Klopp’s commitment to Liverpool if Flick resigns.
