Edin Terzic Steps Down as Head Coach of Borussia Dortmund

Edin Terzic has stepped down as Borussia Dortmund’s coach, the club announced Thursday.

Under his leadership, Dortmund clinched a spot in the Champions League final but fell to Real Madrid 2-0 at Wembley.

After guiding Dortmund in various roles for over a decade, Terzic sought to end his contract early, originally set to conclude next year.

“It’s deeply painful to say farewell. Leading BVB was an immense privilege, marked by our journey to the DFB Cup and the Champions League final,” Terzic stated.

“Post-final, I felt compelled to discuss my future with management. Despite our shared history and successes, I believe a fresh face should spearhead the next chapter,” he added.

“Though my conviction remains unshaken after extensive talks, I leave with nothing but good wishes for Dortmund. This isn’t goodbye, but a pause until we meet again,” he concluded.

Terzic initially took the reins temporarily in the 2020/21 season, securing Dortmund’s fifth DFB-Pokal title during that period.

Over two tenures, Terzić managed 96 matches, secured 55 victories, and maintained an average of 1.93 points per game.
