Ancelotti Implores Kroos to Reconsider Retirement Following Champions League Triumph

Real Madrid is gearing up to bid farewell to Toni Kroos, yet Carlo Ancelotti harbors hopes that the Los Blancos stalwart will reconsider.

A six-time Champions League conqueror with Real, Kroos has indicated his retirement plans. He capped off his last club match with a win in the European finals, where a precise corner led to the opening goal.

In his last outing for the club, Kroos’s assist helped secure a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund, adding another Champions League title to Madrid’s collection.

Post-victory, the 34-year-old is slated to represent Germany at Euro 2024 before he hangs up his boots. Ancelotti, however, wishes for a reversal in his decision.

“Kroos exits as a genuine titan of our sport,” Ancelotti declared. “He’s leaving on an unmatched high—there’s no grander exit than this. He’s a true legend here.”

“The contribution he has made through his commitment and professionalism is profound. I’ve hinted to him that we’re here, hoping he’ll flip his decision,” he added.

In the Champions League, this triumph was the sixth for the dynamic quartet: Kroos, Luka Modric, Dani Carvajal, and Nacho.

Historically, only Paco Gento has as many European Cup/Champions League victories. Meanwhile, the expected addition of Kylian Mbappe from PSG is set to infuse fresh dynamism into the squad.

While Kroos plans to retire, Ancelotti is eyeing both new talents and seasoned team members to fill the void. “We’ve lost a pivotal player, yet we have formidable talents ready to step in. Our gameplay will evolve but remain strong,” he stated.

A swell of newcomers coupled with Madrid’s seasoned campaigners assures continued competitiveness, according to Ancelotti.

Before his European campaign, Kroos will test his mettle in friendlies against Ukraine and Greece. His Euro 2024 journey kicks off against Scotland on June 14.
