Niger has a new government after the new prime minister swore in front of deputies. This first cabinet in the Bazoum Mohamed era consisted of thirty-three ministers, including five women. A renewed and rejuvenated government in which several young technocrats have joined.

This first government consists mainly of personalities from the parties of the presidential movement – MRN, Mouvance pour le renaissance national – who supported the presidential candidacy. Bazoum Mohamed,took office on 1 April.

All of the ruling party’s dinosaurs – PNDS – have been replaced, with the exception of three ministers: Foreign Minister Hassoumi Massoudou; Alkache Alhada, appointed new Minister of the Interior and Alkassoum Indattou National Defense.

The other Prime Minister is Rhissa AgBoula, very close to President Bazoum Mohamed.

The three main parties in the presidential movement take the lion’s share. Only PNDS has 16 ministerial posts. MPR with 5 stations and MNSD with 4 stations.

Many young people have joined this government. Rejuvenation is more than 50%, according to several observers. Thus, a young technocrat, Ahmat Jidoud, heads the Ministry of Finance. LaJustice, lePlan and National Education are also occupied by young people.

President Bazoum Mohamed’s campaign director, after brilliant studies in the United States and the United Kingdom, is being promoted to Minister of Petroleum, Energy and Renewable Energy. This is Mahamane Sani Mahamadou, 37 years old, made by the outgoing President Mahamadou Issoufou.
