Somali Ambassador to Turkey Presents Credentials for Role as Non-Resident Envoy to Azerbaijan
Baku (AX) — Anar Najafli, who leads the State Protocol Department at Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, met with Somalia’s non-resident ambassador to Azerbaijan, Fathudin Ali Mohamed, earlier this week to officially receive his credentials.
Ambassador Fathudin, doubling up as Somalia’s representative to Turkey, engaged in discussions with Najafli to explore avenues for boosting ties between the two nations, focusing particularly on trade, education, and development partnerships.
Interestingly, Fathudin’s journey to Azerbaijan aligns with the buildup to the 29th United Nations Climate Conference (COP29), scheduled in Baku from November 11-22, 2024.
Somalia’s governmental convoy, spearheaded by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and graced by cabinet figures like Minister of Environment and Climate Change Khadija Mohamed Al Makhzoumin, plans to dive into the premier environmental dialogue.
Ambassador Fathudin also operated in meeting mode with Azerbaijani authorities and other summit organizers as Somalia gears up to take part in the global climate discourse at COP29.
