In a troubling turn of events, renowned Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has signaled his intention to pursue legal recourse following the unauthorized disclosure of his personal data from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The situation escalated when a senior aide to the Federal Capital Territory minister faced backlash for disclosing what seemed to be Ike’s confidential voter information via an INEC webpage.

On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the aide, Lere Olayinka, scrutinized Ike’s candidacy for the House of Representatives in Abuja, highlighting the actor’s previous voter registration in Imo State. Accompanying his commentary, Olayinka shared two images that many users criticized for revealing sensitive information that should only be retrievable through the INEC’s administrative access.

Reacting to the breach, Ike voiced his astonishment, stating, “He is telling every Nigerian that whoever you are, I can pull your information from anywhere and I can do what I want.” In response to this alarming incident, the electoral commission has promised to initiate an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this data leak.
