attack on the prefect Wour by a soldier in Tibesti

The prefect of Wour, a town in the far north of the country, was attacked in his home by a soldier on Wednesday 18 August. The tension had been going on between the two authorities for several days, around a story about the seizure of vehicles that are suspected to be part of a stolen car dealership. The government condemns the soldier’s attitude and supports the prefect.

The case began two days ago, on Tuesday, August 17. The prefect of the Wour branch in Tibesti orders the seizure of 37 vehicles from the neighboring Libyan border. According to the government, the origin of these vehicles is doubtful and the drivers do not customs them.

But a soldier at the head of a unit in the village, asked the prefect to return the vehicles to their owners. Before his refusal, the soldier then went to the prefect’s home where they came to battle.

Put a stop to the car trade According to the government spokesperson, the head of state is in good health and the soldier has been arrested. Abderaman Koulamallah, a spokesman for the transitional government, said the soldier exceeded his duties: “He probably had an acquaintance with the owner of these vehicles. His actions are absolutely reprehensible. And the sanctions will be applied. ”

The government wants to stop traffic in vehicles from Libya, a traffic that it believes weakens the local market.
