Undercover NISA operation uncovers shady dealings between businessmen and Al-Shabab

In Mogadishu, the Somalia National Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA) apprehended multiple businesspeople accused of covertly engaging with the al-Shabab extremist organization on Saturday.

NISA did not reveal the identities or quantity of the businessmen and urged the Somali populace to stay vigilant against the group’s schemes to plunder their assets. Over the past year, the Somali administration has heightened its campaign to disrupt the financial networks backing the Islamist militant faction al-Shabab.

Numerous bank accounts and phones linked to militants have been deactivated in recent months.
