Jubaland president meets with US ambassador to Mogadishu

Madobe arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday and was booked into Halane Base Camp, the heavily fortified base that hosts the US Embassy in Mogadishu, the United Nations and the AMISOM team, among others.
Madobe, who has been critical of the leadership of outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, is determined to find a solution to the current situation, but has often insisted that elections not take place until federal troops are withdrawn from Gedo. regions.

The two former leaders have called for the removal of federal leader Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and argued that his term had expired. According to them, the outgoing leader must hand over power to a transitional authority, which will oversee the election.
Earlier in Halane, Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe met with former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, who is currently one of the opposition candidates fighting for a seat. According to sources, Madobe and Khaire discussed the recent political situation, mainly the stalemate over the election process and upcoming talks.
The international community has put pressure on Farmajo and opposition leaders to reach a compromise on elections, but both parties have not yet reached their goals. It is expected that leaders will find a way to implement the agreement reached on September 17, which was concluded before the election, which was signed last year.
