job creation, a serious concern

Congo-Brazzaville elects its new president on Sunday, March 21st. As a whole, the young people representing the majority of the population are waiting for the newly elected representative to create more jobs for them because unemployment has reached worrying proportions in this country with nearly five million inhabitants full of wealth including oil.

as reported from Brazzaville, Loïcia Martial

Congolese young people are sacrificed. I have a child who is 32 years old, has a license, but who still lives under my roof, ”says a family leader who does not understand why many young Congolese who have completed their studies struggle to find work.

Over the past two weeks, with a clear conscience or attracted to a gadget or even out of simple curiosity, thousands of young Congolese readers have made rounds of meetings to listen to political leaders. For the future winner of the election, which takes place this Sunday, they are waiting for nothing but solutions to their thorny problem of unemployment.

“We expect good management of the country and that there are no longer enough vacancies. We want to get a good reward with the studies we do today, ie work, ”said young people on condition of anonymity.

“The new president must bring everything back to normal. There are not enough companies (or companies) everywhere in the Congo. The new president must see this situation as well as the living conditions of pensioners and students, ”others added.

In addition to employment, young people are also asking the elected president to eradicate the phenomenon with gangs roaming the Brazzaville neighborhoods and other urban areas.
