Gambian Court Commits to Enforcing Law Against Rising Knife Violence

Gambian Court Vows Full Force of Law Over Surging Knife Violence
Gambian Court Commits to Enforcing Law Against Rising Knife Violence

A High Court judge has sounded the alarm over a troubling rise in knife-related incidents among young people in the nation. Justice Ebrima Jaiteh underscored that the growing trend of using knives to resolve even minor disputes is intolerable, cautioning that those who engage in such behavior will be met with stringent legal repercussions.

This stern message came during his sentencing remarks following a murder conviction. “The youth of The Gambia need to understand that conflicts, grievances, and moments of anger should never lead to violence, revenge, or the use of knives,” he articulated, emphasizing the need for a shift in attitudes towards conflict resolution.
