This past Saturday, a coalition of Somali leaders gathered in Minnesota to publicly endorse GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump for a second term, a development revealed during a press briefing.
The event unfolded over nearly an hour, featuring the voices of more than ten prominent Somali figures who passionately articulated their reasons for backing the 45th president.
Key topics included pressing matters like public safety, education, and economic challenges. “Our situation is dire. The working class and middle class can barely make ends meet,” lamented Mohamed Ahmed, a leader within the community. “Let me be clear: we have deep affection for our Democratic brothers and sisters, but you’ve turned your backs on us.”
Another leader took a firm stance, expressing disillusionment with the Democratic Party, which he accused of aligning itself with billionaires and perpetual warfare.
Yet another spokesperson shared his support for Trump, pointing out the candidate’s promise to quell the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict between Hamas and Israel. He also lauded Trump’s prior achievements in office.
“During Donald J. Trump’s administration, the economy was thriving compared to today’s state,” he asserted. “We’re being misled about inflation, job opportunities, education, and housing. This state of affairs is intolerable.”
