DCI Requests Public Assistance to Identify Key Suspect in Eastleigh Triple Homicide Investigation
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives are reaching out to the public for assistance in apprehending the main suspect in the tragic slaying of three women in Eastleigh.
DCI reports reveal that surveillance footage captured Hashim Muhumed’s car picking up the victims from their Eastleigh residence last week. The car was later linked to the crime scene.
Hours after the abduction, the unfortunate victims were discovered lifeless at different spots.
“The vehicle was located abandoned near the ENA Coach stage at Wakulima Market and then transferred to DCI Headquarters for forensic analysis, which further implicated Hashim Dagane in these heinous acts,” stated a DCI spokesperson.
Detectives disclosed Muhumed ditched his automobile in Nairobi and made a hasty getaway, possibly retreating to Ijara in Garissa County.
There is also a possibility that he could be hiding out in Nairobi or elsewhere in Kenya, according to the police.
The vehicle, associated with the suspect, was found deserted at Wakulima Market, reinforcing the link between the vehicle’s presence and the tragic events.
“With one suspect detained and aiding in our inquiry, we urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of Hashim Dagane Muhumed to reach out by calling our toll-free hotline 0800 722 203 or visit any local police station,” a DCI official urged.
This plea came following the Saturday burial of the three women at Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi.
Amid this, detectives have intensified their pursuit of additional suspects tied to the murders of Amina Abdirashid, her aunt Waris Dahabo Daud, and her niece, Nusayba Abdi Mohammed, all from Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Preliminary police findings suggest the women were slain due to a dispute over a ransom demand issued by their captors.
Further investigation indicated that the victims were betrayed by individuals known to them, who reacted violently when their ransom expectations went unmet and identities were revealed during captivity.
Law enforcement is currently questioning four individuals of interest, including a person suspected of the crime.
A suspect and a murder survivor shared with the authorities that the aggressors sought a ransom from the women, turning vicious upon realizing they had been identified by the victims.
“The moment they realized the women could identify them, they resolved to kill them and dispose of their bodies,” an officer remarked, noting they are actively tracking known suspects.
Demanding a steep ransom, the captors sought Sh1 million for the release of each woman.
