Somalia Denounces Israeli Attacks on Iran, Urges for Regional Peace and Stability

Mogadishu (AX) — The Somali government has strongly criticized Israel’s nocturnal strikes on Iran, branding them an infringement upon Iran’s sovereignty and an affront to established global laws and norms.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Somalia issued a statement on Saturday reaffirming its resistance to any further intensification of hostilities in the Middle East. “Such expansion of conflict jeopardizes both regional tranquility and security,” the ministry warned.

“Somalia emphatically calls upon the global community and the Security Council to fulfill their obligations by ceasing activities that imperil the region’s future,” the statement declared. It also emphasized the urgency of taking robust actions to ensure peace and stability, consistent with international laws and agreements.

The Israeli military revealed its launch of attacks on Iranian military installations, targeting about 20 locations over several hours in regions like Ilam, Khuzestan, and Tehran. Iran’s armed forces confirmed the death of four soldiers, specifying that the offensive, which aimed at military bases, resulted in “minimal damage.”

Prior to this, Iranian military leaders warned that any aggressive move by Israel would evoke an “even more forceful retaliation,” sparking further fears of rising tensions across the region.
