MOGADISHU, Somalia – The National Intelligence Security Agency disappeared [NISA] Agent Ikran Tahil Farah was assassinated in Mogadishu just hours after being picked up from her home, a senior former spy said, which could take the case to a whole new level.
According to Brigadier General Abdalla Abdalla, who was once deputy director of NISA, Ms. Farah, 24, was murdered on June 26, the night she was picked up from her home in the capital’s highly protected area.
The former director further claims that the agent was secretly buried in one of Mogadishu’s cemeteries. However, he failed to provide credible evidence to back up his claims, which could cause political friction in the country’s capital.
But before making such sensational claims, Abdalla Abdalla released CCTV footage showing a vehicle picking up the young cybercrime agent from her house near the NISA headquarters in Godka Jilicow, where terrorists are being held.
The Toyota Hilux was parked for about 5 minutes before being driven in the dark, but not all occupants could be properly seated due to poor eyesight. Since her disappearance, the young detective has never been found.
The missing girl is closely associated with senior NISA leaders and was a close confidante of its director general Fahad Yasin. She was sent to the UK for training courses. The allegations are that NISA is behind her disappearance, but the agency has remained quiet.
Several sources claim the young spy agency employee was picked up around 8:01 p.m. local time by a car from her residence near the heavily fortified NISA headquarters, but did not return home for more than 20 days. late. The family is now in distress.
In order for a vehicle to travel near the NISA headquarters, it must get permission from the security chiefs, or at least it must be subject to serious checks by those in charge. Usually there is a sheet for the registration of vehicles entering the area.
The NISA headquarters are part of the protected areas in Somalia, part of the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, the presidential palace and the Halane base camp which hosts several diplomatic missions in the Horn of Africa country.
Qali Mohamud Guhad, the mother of the missing girl, now wants all CCTV footage from the said date to be reviewed so the family can have a clue about her daughter’s fate. She flew from Ankara, Turkey, to follow up on her missing daughter.
According to sources, Ikran worked closely with the former governor of Banadir Eng. Yarisow was assassinated by Al-Shabaab militants in 2019. Yarisow was one of the popular politicians in Somalia until his unfortunate demise.
The mother also took a hit at the NISA run by Fahad Yasin, wondering why the agency never made a commitment to locate her missing daughter despite a series of complaints filed by the immediate family.
Ikran is one of the young people who studied abroad and returned to war-torn Somalia. Her fate remains uncertain as she is reported missing in the shadow of NISA, a controversial spy agency in the Horn of Africa country.
For years, NISA has been criticized throughout the reign of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who is a close ally of Fahad Yasin. The director of NISA has, among other things, been accused of using NISA agents to intimidate the opposition.
The Union of Presidential Candidates in Somalia has often called for Yasin’s resignation, accusing him of severity. The spy agency has yet to respond directly or indirectly to the latest allegations of its employee’s disappearance.
