Cosmonaut Captures Breathtaking Aurora Video from Space Aboard the ISS

A Roscosmos cosmonaut aboard the International Space Station filmed sweeping auroras over Earth on Tuesday as a powerful solar storm set the planet’s upper atmosphere aglow with vivid color. Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, a member of Russia’s space agency, shared footage from orbit and described an intense display that washed the night side of Earth in unusual red tones. “During yesterday’s strongest storm in two decades, there was plenty of red glow. It felt as if we were literally sailing inside that light,” Kud-Sverchkov wrote on…

SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule returned a four-member crew to Earth early after a medical emergency aboard the International Space Station, splashing down safely before dawn off San Diego in the Pacific Ocean. The unscheduled homecoming marked the first time NASA has cut short an ISS mission because of a health issue. The spacecraft, named Endeavour, parachuted into calm seas at about 12:45 a.m. local time, capping a descent of more than 10 hours from orbit and a fiery re-entry through Earth’s atmosphere. NASA weighs early return of ISS astronauts over medical concern

NASA is weighing a rare early return of its current International Space Station crew after canceling a planned spacewalk because of an unspecified medical issue involving one astronaut, the agency said.
