SSC Khaatumo Claims North Western State of Somalia Launched Attacks on Military Bases in Buhodle District
Las Anod (AX) — Tensions flared anew as the SSC Khaatumo administration accused North Western State of Somalia forces on Friday of orchestrating a synchronized assault on its military installations in the Buhodle district.
In a vehement declaration, SSC Khaatumo claimed that North Western State of Somalia operatives targeted not only military sites but also local nomadic communities, igniting aggressive confrontations that posed grave risks to both soldiers and civilians in the vicinity. “The SSC Khaatumo leadership unequivocally denounces this offensive as an act of terrorism designed to undermine the fragile peace in our region,” the statement asserted. “This unwarranted act of hostility blatantly disregards the need for stability. We stand firm in our commitment to safeguard our territory and will not tolerate further assaults on our citizens.”
The fledgling SSC administration urged the global community to take heed of these alarming developments, calling for immediate negotiations and an urgent halt to the violence to ensure the safety of civilians and avert an escalation of conflict.
Significant clashes erupted on Thursday and Friday between North Western State of Somalia forces, who received support from local militias, and SSC-Khaatumo troops in the Shangeed and Qorilugud regions adjacent to Buhodle. Reports indicate considerable casualties sustained by both factions in these intense confrontations.
