North Western of SomaliaPresidential Candidates Commit to Ensuring a Fair and Transparent Election
On a sunny Saturday morning, President Muse Bihi Abdi from the Kulmiye party, Waddani’s Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, and UCID’s Faisal Ali Warabe officially secured their nominations, setting the stage for the upcoming election. Concerns are on the rise about possible electoral conflicts in the area, spotlighting the need for a tranquil and fair contest in Somaliland’s democratic journey.
“The players are ready, and the game is on. We’ll compete and respect the commission’s decisions,” Irro stated with resolve.
Cautioning against any mistakes that might invite criticism, President Bihi praised the commission’s role. “We’re not newcomers; we’ve weathered elections before. Ignoring wise counsel is folly. We know the laws thoroughly and need no prodding,” he stressed, reaffirming his dedication to the election process.
Faisal Ali Warabe echoed the call for restraint, advising the candidates and their supporters to steer clear of incendiary comments that could escalate tensions during the campaign.
The certification formalizes the candidates’ entry into the electoral contest, marking the start of a crucial phase in Somaliland’s political landscape.
