According to police in London, the midfielder is facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault related to incidents that allegedly occurred between 2021 and 2022. “These accusations are grave, and we must uphold both justice for the victims and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty,” remarked a spokesperson.
This development comes just four days after Partey concluded his time with the north London club, with his contract expiring on Monday.
The sexual assault allegation pertains to a third woman, as clarified by the authorities. “It’s essential we create an environment where victims feel safe and supported in coming forward,” they added.
Partey, 32, who resides in Hertfordshire, is scheduled to make an appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 5 August.
He joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for a substantial €50 million in October 2020, swiftly establishing himself as a key player for the team. “His impressive skills and dedication had garnered a significant following among fans,” noted a sports analyst.
Partey’s legal troubles began with an arrest in July 2022, though his identity was initially withheld. He continued to play for Arsenal while the investigation proceeded, highlighting the complexities surrounding such sensitive matters.
