Sergio Ramos Bids Farewell to Sevilla: A Poignant Goodbye to His Childhood Team

Sergio Ramos bids adieu to Sevilla following his one-year sojourn at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, confirmed by the club.

Having graduated from Sevilla’s progeny ranks, Ramos switched allegiances to Real Madrid for €27 million at the sprightly age of 19 in 2005. His prolific tenure there amassed five LaLiga titles and quartet of Champions League victories with the venerated Los Blancos.

An injury-laden spell with Paris Saint-Germain behind him, Ramos returned to his cradle club last September, 18 years following his initial farewell.

Last term, Ramos took the field 28 times in LaLiga, netting three times and playing a key role in seven clean sheets, helping Sevilla dodge the relegation quagmire and closing the season in 14th place.

The club shared in a Monday dispatch that Ramos is set to part ways and will hold a goodbye news conference on Tuesday.

“Seville extends its gratitude to Sergio for his steadfast loyalty, leadership, and verve shown this season and wishes him fortune’s favor in future endeavors,” added the club.

Despite hanging up his Seville cap, the ex-Spain standout seems not to be eyeing retirement. He’s rumored to be in talks with MLS’s new entrants, San Diego FC.
