Real Madrid and Barcelona’s biggest victories in Clasico history

The Classic. It’s probably the biggest game in world football every season, and it always throws up some kind of drama.

Whether it’s unnecessary to push and shoot, theaters or fascinating goals, matches involving Real Madrid and Barcelona, two of the biggest clubs in the world, always deliver.

There have also been quite a few thrashings over the years. Here are the biggest wins for both Real and Barça.

We start with some convincing gains rather than complete thrashings. One such result came in 1998.

Sonny Anderson, Luis Figo and Giovanni were goal scorers on the day Barça cruised to victory at the Camp Nou.

Meho Kodro, who has managed Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo since stepping down as a player, scored two goals in this solid 3-0 victory. Luis Figo grabbed the other.

Barça ended the 1995/96 season with seven points behind champions Atletico Madrid.

It’s always nice to go to your rivals’ backyard and crush them, right?

Barça did so back in 1984 when strikes by Steve Archibald and Ramon Caldere, along with Angel’s own goal, sealed a declarative victory.

Jaime Sospedra was in double in this fixture, with all three goals for Barça in the second half.

Jose Valle got the other.

Lionel Messi did not even start this game but when he was introduced as a substitute Barça had three goals for good.

Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta had the Catalan giants crossing before the hour mark, and Suarez added a fourth in the 74th minute.

Isco came in as a replacement for Real and was then sent off. Funny.

This was a bad day for the usually speedy Zoltan Czibor.

However, the game was a stalemate so far, with possession split evenly between the teams. Juse Tejada was the replacement.

Philippe Coutinho’s first spell in Barcelona did not go so well, so it’s fun to look back to see that he opened the scoring in this thrashing 2018.

It soon became the Luis Suarez show when the Uruguayan scored a hat trick, with Arturo Vidal as the final net. Marcelo got one for Real, but that was obviously not enough.

It actually did not look good for Barça when Alfredo di Stefano scored in the sixth minute here.

But La Blaugrana did not panic, responding with two goals from Justo Tejada and further strikes from Cesar Rodriguez, Moreno and Manchon.

All great names, they.

Do you want to try to deal with a young Lionel Messi, the constantly threatening Thierry Henry and the outrageously good Samuel Eto’o?

No, of course not, and neither did Real Madrid’s defenders this evening in 2009.

Henry and Messi scored two, while midfielders Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique also helped when Barça picked up six.

Lionel Messi has not had too many better games than this one, even though he was smacked all the time. The Argentine set up two goals but was not actually among the goal scorers.

Instead, David Villa got two, with Xavi, Pedro and Jeffren as well.

His Wikipedia page can read in the same way as a League Two company, but Romario was brilliant pretty much wherever he went, especially during an entire season in Barcelona.

The Brazilian legend made a hat trick in this clash, with Ronald Koeman and Ivan Iglesias also earning a bit of a boring Real defense.

It was about that time when Johan Cruyff stringed his things as one of the best players in the world, so of course he led Barça to a massive victory at Real in 1974.

The Dutchman did twice that day, with Juan Manuel Asensi walking with him with a brace.

This was a second half if there ever was one.

Cesar Rodriguez put Barça ahead in the 41st minute and added another just after the break before Jose Bravo, Jose Escola and Jose Gonzalvo added some brilliance to the goal line.

A massive day out here for Martin Vantolra, who scored four goals to lead Barça to an emphatic victory.

Jose Escola also netted that day.

What a really brilliant result for Barça fans.

This historic victory was due to the efforts of Mateu Nicolau Gar and Marcos Aurelio, who both scored two goals along with Cesar Rodriguez, Jose Gonzalvo and Basora.

Despite the thumping victory, Barcelona would only finish fourth with Atletico Madrid topping the table in 1950/51.

Real knew they had some work to do here, after losing the first leg of the Supercopa 2-1 at Camp Nou.

Fortunately for them, Raul came of age with two goals before Predrag Mijatovic and Clarence Seedorf put them well under the lead.

Giovanni pulled one back late, but Los Blancos still secured the Supercopa 5-3 overall.

Once again, Real had to come from behind to win this Supercopa collision when Jon Andoni Goikoetxea struck the first blow in the 20th minute.

Emilio Butragueno had the points level about a minute later before he edged Los Blancos just before half time.

Hugo Sanchez and Santi Aragon then scored in the second half to end a 5-1 overall victory.

Amancio is a fantastic name for a football player, we can all agree on that. He is a legendary figure at Real, perhaps in part because of his hat-trick against the old enemy in this 4-1 victory.

Fernando Serena netted his team’s fourth, even though Cayetano Re had reduced the deficit earlier in the match.

Barcelona finished this season in fourth place while Real Madrid could only finish ninth, which makes this result a bit puzzling.

Regardless, it was a fun day out for Jesus Narro, who took a hat trick, while Pahino also joined the team.

Gaspar Rubio was one of Spain’s best strikers during his heyday and finished this season with 19 league goals, just a shy of top scorer Guillermo Gorostiza.

He was on the points list twice here, with Francisco Lopez, Jaime Lazcano and Barça’s Carlos Bestit also netting.

This was a season in which Real and Barça finished in the top two league positions, and Los Blanco’s two victories over their tough rivals proved to be extremely decisive.

While the match at Camp Nou ended almost 3-2, Real ran with the match at the Bernabeu when Henning Jensen scored two goals.

As a defender in ancient times, it must have been a nightmare in line against both Ferenc Puskas and Alfredo di Stefano.

Both did in this thumping victory, with Puskas noting a Hattrick.

This game ended in the 50th minute, with Luis Valle, Josep Samitier, Luis Regueiro and Eugenio all scoring.

It was Athletic Club’s season, where Real lost two points to the league title.

Uh, Puskas and Di Stefano are up to their old tricks again …

In this match in 1963, the Hungarian legend made three in a thoroughly one-sided competition.

These defenses, man. Someone should have had a word.

Anyway, Luis Molowny was in top form here, did once and put up three more on his way to another 5-1 victory.

Did not see this game? Really? Why the hell not? Ah yes, because it took place in 1930. Fair.

Two goals from Gaspar Rubio and three from Jaime Lazcano put Real up 5-0 in the 72nd minute, with Goiburu pulling one back for the visitors.

Right here, here are some real players that you may have heard of.

Ivan Zamorano was the main man here and scored a hat trick before the first half before Luis Enrique and Jose Amavisca scored.

Among Barça’s players that day were Ronald Koeman, Pep Guardiola, Gheorge Hagi and Hristo Stoichkov.

Funny enough, Michael Laudrup had been on Barça’s side who beat Real 5-0 just the season before.

Los Blancos legend Alfredo di Stefano was one of the exhibitors in 1953 and scored twice in this 5-0 victory.

Roque Olsen also netted one stay, with Luis Molowny grabbing the other.

Striker Pahino helped himself to three goals here when Real went up six goals within 70 minutes.

Jose Gonzalvo pulled one back late for Barça, but it was clearly not enough to save an embarrassing defeat.

Neither Real nor Barça would win the title that season – instead Atletico Madrid helped themselves to their third title.

Here it is. The biggest victory in Clasico history, and it belongs to Real Madrid.

They may not beat Barcelona with ridiculous results too often nowadays, but one February night in 1935 they ran riots against their Catalan opposition.

Fernando Sanudo scored four and Jaime Lazcano added three more, with Luis Regueiro making it an even eight.

This was the last time Barcelona lost 8-2 before the humiliating loss to Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 Champions League.
