David Raya has sealed a firm deal with Arsenal after a stellar loan stint from Brentford during the 2023-24 season.

Last year, Raya came to Arsenal on a loan arrangement, with the club shelling out a £3 million loan fee and securing a £27 million option to finalize the transfer.

He bested Aaron Ramsdale for the prime goalkeeper slot, securing 16 shutouts while propelling Mikel Arteta’s squad to second place in the Premier League and clinching the coveted Golden Glove.

Only Everton’s Jordan Pickford, with 13 clean sheets, eclipsed the 10-clean-sheet mark besides Raya.

Raya, however, let in 24 goals against a statistic of 20.93 expected goals on target (xGoT) he faced.

Upon inking a lengthy contract, the Spaniard expressed his contentment on Arsenal’s official website: “After a year on loan as a Gunner, I can finally say that I’m an Arsenal player for the coming years.

“I’m keyed up about what lies ahead yet fully savoring the here and now.

“Securing this role fulfills a lifelong dream, and I’m grateful for the immense support over the past year.”
