Possible destinations for Germany star Robin Gosens
One goal, two assists and a huge hand in another strike. This is how you communicate yourself to the rest of the world.
Anyone who watches Serie A – and more precisely, anyone who takes 90 minutes of their week to treat themselves to an Atalanta ball – will not be surprised by Robin Gosen’s match-winning contribution in Germany’s 4-2 victory over Portugal.
In reality, this type of performance is the norm for the 26-year-old, not the anomaly. Gosens may have just scored his second international goal for Die Mannschaft, but his club-level offers are something else.
The left-back scored 11 goals and provided six assists in Serie A last season, which matched his equally impressive 17-goal contribution in the 2019/20 campaign. When it comes to tormenting left flanks, there is no one better when it comes to delivery and getting among the goals.

His exciting physique makes him a rare breed of wing-back, who boasts the body type as a commanding midfielder, but the evil delivery, flying ability and clinical end of an elite attacker.
And he never stops running – ever. So this is a man who already plays in a Champions League quality side, but who is talented enough to patrol the wing for the very very best teams in Europe. Which club would then be his best destination?

If Antonio Conte was still Inter coach and if the club did not go through any extreme financial turmoil, this signing could have transformed the Nerazzurri from Serie A champions to European champions.
The left-back position was probably the only role that could have been improved in Inter’s starting line-up last year, and yet they still won the league at a gallop with Ivan Perisic filling in.
But Conte is gone, Inter want to sell their big stars and their Italian dominance may only take a year. What could have been …

Realistically, Bayern do not need a left-back, given that they already own one of the best left-backs in world football in Alphonso Davies.
BUT, if they were to sign him, it would give the joker Thomas Muller another fantastic opportunity for one of his classic, timeless puns, and it’s worth sticking them in the list.

Chelsea have Ben Chilwell to occupy the left flank, but behind him are Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, who can both leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
Thomas Tuchel loves a German compatriot, and Gosens fits perfectly into his dynamic and structured system. However, he has to settle for sharing regular playing time with Chilwell, and that could be a problem in the long run.

It takes a lot of work to make this Real Madrid side a force of nature again, but Gosens would solve a big issue within the squad. Ferland Mendy has impressed since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, but backup Marcelo is simply no longer up.
Mendy has also shown some positional flexibility when it comes to playing on the left-back, allowing Gosens to bomb up and down the flank he wants.
This one makes sense to us.

Yes, we know that Barcelona have no money, and they have Jordi Alba, but realistically, how many years to the top does he have left in himself? Ronald Koeman’s arrival as a coach has coincided with a transition to a back three, and Gosens is the perfect candidate to fulfill that role.
The German is about the darting runs behind the defense to whip crosses in the middle, and his physical strength would add some steel to Barça’s current backline.

It’s no secret that Pep Guardiola loves to write backs, and it’s no secret that many of Manchester City’s backs have failed to impress at the Etihad Stadium. Benjamin Mendy has flopped since coming from Monaco, and the jury is still out on Oleksandr Zinchenko.
So, what’s another £ 50 million on a back between friends? The only problem would be to change the system to suit Gosens, or play him in a proper left-back role, where his main strengths would go untapped.

If Paris Saint-Germain manage to sign Achraf Hakimi and Gosens, we may be forced to give them the Champions League now. The back-back area has been Les Parisien’s weak point for a few years now, but their quest for the Inter star suggests they are ready to tackle it.
And if a right-back is signed, a left-back must also arrive. Shift to a 3-4-3, play Marco Verratti and Georginio Wijnaldum in midfield, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria at the top, and you are unstoppable.
Gosens can end the season as Ligue 1’s best goal scorer in that team.
