Milan Announces Pioli’s Departure: Managerial Shake-Up Unfolds

Milan has officially announced that Stefano Pioli will no longer be their head coach. The team achieved the Serie A title in the 2021-22 season under Pioli’s leadership. Although they couldn’t defend their title this season, they finished second in the league, albeit 19 points behind Inter. Pioli’s final game in charge will be against Salernitana, ending his four-and-a-half-year tenure as head coach. The club expressed gratitude to Pioli and his staff for their contributions over the past five years, including a memorable league title and consistent presence in European competition. Pioli thanked Milan for the opportunity to be part of the club’s history and acknowledged the support from ownership, management, players, staff, and fans. With 182 Serie A games under his belt, Pioli won 108 matches with a strong average of two points per game. Milan’s title win in 2022 marked their first Scudetto in over a decade. Lille manager Paulo Fonseca is the frontrunner to take over from Pioli at San Siro.
