Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for a new central midfielder this summer, with Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga an alternative that has recently gained a lot of traction.

A meeting with Camavinga’s representatives is expected to be planned in the next few days, but United seem to be considering all their options as the Daily Star claims that Rabiot was closely followed by a scout during France’s surprise defeat to Switzerland on Monday.

It was probably the worst possible time to watch Rabiot, who started the match as a left back, spent a few minutes in his favored midfield position and then ended the match as a traditional left back. It was not the Juventus man’s finest game, but he was forced to play wildly out of position due to injuries to Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Digne.

The United scout will probably not have been growing lyrical about Rabiot’s performance in this game, but the quality of the Frenchman cannot be denied.

He played 47 games in all competitions for Juventus last season, chipping in with five goals and three assists for good measure, but his future at Allianz Stadium is up in the air after the team’s overwhelming season.

While Rabiot has been solid for Juventus, he has been exposed to a lot of frustration from fans who feel that he has not earned the huge salaries he received when he agreed to a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Juventus want to reduce costs this summer, the idea of releasing Rabiot can be discussed, but other reports have suggested that the new manager Massimiliano Allegri hopes to keep him.

The Bianconeri are also in the process of signing Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli this summer for the best of £ 40m, and the arrival of the Italian international could see Rabiot fall to chin, and it seems United are interested in taking advantage of that.

United’s primary focus this summer is to finally seal the deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, whose transfer is getting closer to completion after a fee of 85 million euros between the two sides.

The hope is then to find a new midfielder, but plans to write a central midfielder are still there and it seems that United are keeping all their options open at the moment.
