As detailed by local officials and reported by the state-run publication Akhbar al-Youm, the workers were making their daily commute from their home village of Kafr al-Sanabsa to their workplace. The collision occurred with dreadful suddenness, leaving shattered lives and a community mourning.
The victims—a significant number of whom were minors—were particularly young, with two of them being only 14 years old. The state-run daily, Al-Ahram, referred to these young souls as “martyrs for their daily bread,” a poignant expression capturing the tragic irony of their quest for livelihood.
