Lyon agree on fee for Xherdan Shaqiri

Lyon have confirmed that they have reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool to sign Swiss winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that the two clubs had agreed on 9.5 million pounds for the Reds to leave Shaqiri, who joined them from Stoke 2018.

Ligue 1 team Lyon have now confirmed that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

Their statement reads: “Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to have finally reached an agreement in principle with Liverpool in connection with the recruitment of Swiss international midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, who excelled against France in the quarter-finals of the Euro.

“Particularly motivated by the Olympique Lyonnais project, Xherdan Shaqiri will arrive in Lyon tonight where he will be welcomed by Juninho. .

“After intensive negotiations with Liverpool, the Olympics would like to thank General Manager Billy Hogan and Sports Director Michael Edwards for their availability and for listening to the joint wishes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Olympique Lyonnais.”
