Kounde and Andersen on the wish list

Tottenham are keen to add at least one center-back to their squad this summer and have identified Jules Kounde and Joachim Andersen as two of their goals.

Scoring did not prove to be a problem for Spurs last season with the talents from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min leading the line. Only the top two teams in the 2020/21 Premier League campaign – Manchester City and United – did more than the north Londoners, but their leaky defense cost them dearly.

Tottenham would undoubtedly have finished higher than seventh if it were not for their shaky backline, with especially Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier who apparently could not eradicate sloppy errors from their games.

Although he has been without a manager when Daniel Levy’s search for a new manager continues, the club is in the process of transitioning as normal reinforcements in the center are at the top of their priority list.

The Guardian reports that Kounde and Andersen are among the midfielders being considered, with both players of course being open to moving from their respective clubs.

Kounde has aroused interest from some of the top sides of European football in recent months, especially Manchester United monitoring his performances.

The Frenchman has previously expressed his desire to “play for an even bigger club” than current employer Sevilla, and reports suggest that they could sell their valuable asset for less than his release clause of 80 million euros.

However, Andersen has already had a taste of Premier League life after spending last season on loan from Fulham. Denmark’s international has now returned to the parent club Lyon – but is currently away in international service at Euro 2020 – and will not return to Craven Cottage after their relegation from the top flight.

He has previously said in 90 minutes that he sees his future in the Premier League, which gives Spurs a clear advantage in the transfer market if they would like to take a step.
