Deal close for Pape Matar Sarr

Tottenham are close to making a deal for Metz midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who has been tracked down by most of the Premier League elite.

After joining the Generation Foot Academy in Senegal last summer, Sarr quickly established himself as one of Ligue 1’s brightest young prospects last season, making 25 appearances in all competitions and helping Metz to a midfield.

His form quickly caught the eye of Europe’s biggest sides, with a number of reports suggesting that Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all ran a deal worth close to € 30 million, but according to RMC Sports’ Joris Crolbois, it is Spurs who have sneaked in for to get a deal done.

The belief is that the 18-year-old’s transfer to Spurs is almost complete, and surprisingly, the fee mentioned is only 15 million euros (12.8 million pounds).

As the story goes, Metz were reluctant to charge Sarr this summer and were willing to charge a huge fee for their services, but after a meeting with the DNCG (the organization responsible for overseeing the finances of French clubs), Metz has realized that they must make an urgent sale.

It is for this reason that Spurs have been able to enter into an agreement, which is assumed to be worth £ 8.5 million with an additional £ 4.3 million in addition.

Should that price tag turn out to be correct, there will probably be very late interest in the teenager, but it seems that Fabio Paratici has gone fast to try to force himself into the queue for Sarr’s signature.

Sarr was a versatile midfielder and spent most of last season in the base at Metz midfield but spent time in both central and advanced roles during the campaign.

He ended his debut campaign in France with four goals from 25 matches and quickly became a fan favorite in the process.
