Celtic striker Patryk Klimala near the New York Red Bulls move

Celtic striker Patryk Klimala is closing in on a permanent move to the New York Bulls, according to reports.

Klimala arrived at Parkhead from the Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020 but has found the first team’s opportunities difficult to catch up with. He has only played 28 matches in all competitions and few of them have started and done only three times.

Now it seems he can move on with The Scottish Sun, which reports that the New York Red Bulls are close to securing his signature. The MLS season starts later this month so they will be keen to get the deal completed as soon as possible.

Celtic paid around £ 3.5 million for the freight forwarder last year and it is understood that Bhoys could get back most of its investment from the transfer. It is unlikely that Poland will be the only player to leave Glasgow before the start of next season.

Bhoys will be rebuilt after a disastrous campaign. Their Old Firm rivals Rangers ended their hopes of securing a record tenth straight Scottish Premiership title with plenty of games to spare. The gap between the two teams is currently 20 points.

To make matters worse, Celtic failed to qualify for the Champions League correctly and then crashed out of the Europa League in the group stage. Lowly Ross County also lost them out of the Scottish League Cup in the second round.

The club is currently without a manager with John Kennedy as interim. Former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is the strongest favorite to take over this summer, although a management duo of Roy Keane and Nicky Butt have also been mentioned as a possibility. Ex-Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre has also been linked.
