decrease in sales of anticovid agent

In Madagascar, the traditional remedy of the President of the Republic Andry Rajoelina, praised for its preventive and curative virtues against coronavirus, no longer attracts. The production of bottle CVO (Covid-Organics) has therefore just been suspended. Overhead, difficult flow of goods, distributors and retailers have no choice but to sell the beverage at a reduced price. In supermarkets or pharmacies, the prices of the yellow liquid bottle are divided by two or even by five.

as reported from Antananarivo, Sarah Tétaud

There are those who regret that prices fall when the situation improves. There are also those, mockers, who see it as proof that Covid-Organics (CVO) was a big scam. And there are finally those, like Oswalde, caretaker in private homes, who welcome the storm.

“Since they published the CVO, I have had one treatment a week a month. Not because I’m afraid of catching coronavirus, eh. But because I have the impression that since my sinusitis has disappeared and my knee hurts less. I never bought one. I ingested what we received for free in the neighborhood and what my neighbors who did not want to hear about this drink gave me. Now I have no more so I will have to buy some for the first time. And then this promotion is very good news because I would not have had the funds to buy it for 1,500 ariary each, ”he explains.

“CVO prices have fallen so much that sales are lost”

This manager of a store with natural products for health and wellness in Tana was a major retailer of CVO products. When he saw demand fall, he stopped replenishing. It finds:

“When CVO was launched and the president announced, there was a very, very strong demand for this remedy and for essential oils that are antiviral. The President of the Republic was the best VRP to CVO. It lasted about two or three months. But in recent months, demand has darkened. The first disinterest we saw in bottle CVO, which was not stable over time. Some bottles turned, the product became unfit for consumption. And so for companies that have stocked these products in large quantities, when the demand disappears, they should be disposed of. Today, CVO prices have fallen so much that sales have been lost. I think fashion is over. ”

But the virus has not disappeared from the island. Last week, national officials announced that the remaining stocks of the drink were “more than enough to ward off another wave”.
