who is preparing for Laurent Gbagbo’s return?

A new meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 4, in Abidjan when he returns to the country of former President Laurent Gbagbo, after ten years in exile. It will be devoted to the security system. The government has noted the date for June 17, which was announced by supporters of the former president, but discussions about the details continue. Discussions have taken place since November. And the reception system built by FPI has grown.

On February 24, in the middle of the legislative campaign, supporters of the former president launched his “National Welcome Committee” for the return of Laurent Gbagbo: a group of 13 personalities led by FPI-GOR Secretary-General Assoa Adou, who is negotiating with the Prime Minister.

Subsequently, the system was enriched with a “General Coordination” around the former Minister Léon Emmanuel Monnet and nine technical and thematic commissions, responsible for meeting the various institutional interlocutors.

In these, the roles were divided between the pillars of the former head of state’s political family, delegates from other formations and the exiles recently returned to the country, such as Justin Koné Katinan, who has joined FPI-GOR spokesman Franck Anderson Kouassi in communications; or Damana Pickass, who works with mobilization with Marie-Odette Lorougnon. The deputy to Yopougon and the son of the former president, Michel Gbagbo, is part of the person in charge of housing.

An approach that pro-Gbagbo wanted “open to all, in a spirit of reconciliation and unification”. Hence the inclusion of other parties and the several interviews in recent weeks with political figures such as Pascal Affi N’Guessan, Danièle Boni Claverie or Albert Toikeusse Mabri.

All this under the attention of Henri Konan Bedié, who from Abidjan to Daoukro, took care of meeting the various actors in the preparations and sending a dozen PDCI chiefs to the various bodies responsible for Laurent’s return.
