visit by the Chief of Staff of the French armies

The Chief of Staff of the French armies concluded a 48-hour visit on Friday, December 11, to Mali. General Lecointre went north to visit the French and European troops present in this part of the country to fight terrorism. He ended his visit, the first since the coup on August 18, through Bamako, where he met with several transitional authorities.

as reported from Bamako, Serge Daniel

The Chief of Staff of the French armies began his stay in Mali with a field visit to the north of the country. “I could see,” said General François Lecointre, “how my men did their job. I could also see how the Takuba force was built and associated Europeans with the French in support of the Malian armed forces.”

Franchise

The second stop for his stay was the capital of Malia. He met in Bamako the president and vice president of the transition, as well as the military hierarchy. A sincere exchange, Paris and the Allies want to strengthen military cooperation with Bamako: “Trying to trace between us what may be the subsequent development of French engagement, international engagement. So we discussed these issues with the Malian political and military authorities. “We want the Malians to help us help them and to work as closely as possible, Malians and French together, then Malians and Europeans together. And there is work to be done.”

Response

Specifically, as an example, beyond operations on the ground, for its function and day-to-day management, the Malian army was able to benefit from the experience of French experts.
