In the Ivory Coast, the opponent and president of FPI-legal Pascal Affi N’Guessan was arrested last night more than a hundred kilometers from Abidjan. He was charged in connection with an investigation recently launched into “attack and conspiracy against the state authority”. The information provided by a party official this morning is confirmed by a security source.

According to an FPI official, Pascal Affi N’Guessan was arrested 140 km from Abidjan near the town of Akoupé. He tried to reach his home region and his stronghold Bougouanou. Authorities have just confirmed the information with some details: he was arrested with two other people just between the villages of Yakassé-Mé and Agou.
Imprisoned in summer
According to the Ministry of Security, he is currently in the Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, DST. However, Pascal Affi N’Guessan’s lawyers state that they could not get in touch with him, even though they went there quickly.
On Friday, prosecutor Richard Adou held a press conference to announce that several opposition politicians had been indicted on 16 charges, including “terrorist acts”, “organization and participation in a rebel movement” and “murder”.
21 people are already detained in the context of this case, which follows the call for an “active boycott” of the presidential election, which according to the prosecutor would have resulted in “commission of many acts of particular seriousness”. PDCI number 2, Maurice Kakou Guikahué, is also being held while Abdallah Mabri Toikeusse is on the run and “actively wanted” by police.
