the 121 members of the National Transitional Council are known

Following the appointment of the head of state of Mali, the appointment of a prime minister and members of his government, the third institution of the transition, the long-awaited National Transitional Council (CNT) was created on Friday. Among the 121 members, names were expected, but also surprises.

as reported from Bamako,Serge Daniel

On the officially published list is Colonel Malick Diaw, number 2 in the Malian junta that took power on 18 August. His name has been circulating for weeks to take the lead for the National Transitional Council. To achieve this, the corridor maneuvers have already begun. The election of CNT’s president will in principle take place this Saturday, December 5.

Among the members of the department, we find relatives of Imam Mahmoud Dicko, but also several people from the ex-uprising, such as Mohamed Ag Intalla, also the traditional head of the Iforas tribe in Kidal, in the north. – east of Mali.

Several parties of the former majority and the former opposition, such as the M5, a protest movement that participated in the case of former President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, had announced that they would not send a name to sit on the CNT. But, surprise, politicians from these formations are now members of the body that will have legislative power. In the party, some seem to have given in to the military sirens, others are outside the boundaries of their party.

Among more than a dozen of them, let’s quote Mamadou Diarrassouba, a member of the RPM, the former party. Or Assarid Ag Imbarcaouane, who comes from an important political party, the Alliance for Democracy in Mali (Adéma).
