tensions occur within the Henri PDCI

In recent days, internal tensions have grown on the Ivorian political scene. Battle of the chapel that some see as the forerunner of possible inheritance battles or in any case about the composition of the balance of power internally.

as reported from Abidjan, Pierre Pinto

These are two Unesdu Nouveau Réveil, the newspaper PDCI (Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire), which put forward “unnecessary palaver at the top of the party” and an opposition between number two Maurice Kakou Guikahué and Bernard Ehouman, acting chief of staff for Henri Konan Bédié. It must be said that the last few days have revealed internal tensions, such as during the election of the group president of the congregation, a week ago.

Four candidates participated, including the outgoing Maurice Kakou Guikahué, Yasmina Ouegnin, Member of Parliament for Cocody and former Minister Jean-Louis Billon. Discussions stopped quickly. It was finally Henri Konan Bédié who would have judged by introducing a fifth man, Bangolo’s deputy, Simon Doho.

Maurice Kakou Guikahué is no longer the second almighty. Other tendencies are hostile to him and do not want him as Bédié’s successor, says a commentator on Ivorian politics. And he adds that “it is after Bédié who is being prepared, but no one has the courage to openly step on the plate.”

The fifty-year-old, close to Madame Bédié, Bernard Ehouman, replaces the chief of staff of the party’s president, Narcisse N’dri, behind bars since 3 November. Is Ehouman the leader of the rebels? Who has the support of the Sphinx in this settlement? “We do not know who these slings are and we do not fully understand their strategy,” commented another observer.

While the old only party celebrates its 75th anniversary, many activists are outraged and the press close to power makes it its fat cabbage.
