resignation of the Minister of Economic Affairs accused of mismanagement

It is a very rare phenomenon in Gabon. A minister accused of mismanagement has resigned. This is Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Jean Marie Ogandaga. He was swept away by a scandal called tax breaks for oil companies.

as reported from Libreville, Yves-Laurent Goma

The scandal that plagued the minister was revealed on social networks. The press picked up the case and made it thick. The revelation dates back to November 13.

A joint report on customs, finance and taxation assignments reported that 9 billion CFA francs in debt from French oil companies Total Gabon and Perenco had simply been canceled on instructions from Minister Ogandaga. Perenco owed the sum of 4.5 billion CFA francs, exactly the same amount for Total Gabon.

Suspicion of feedback

The Minister granted allowances that enabled Total to pay 700 million CFA francs, of only 4.5 billion. Perenco paid only 150 million CFA francs. These huge reductions have shocked the public, who suspect that the minister has been reappointed.

In the corner, the minister tried to justify himself in a press release, but too late the evil was too deep. Jean Marie Ogandaga finally resigned. It remains to be seen whether the case will be resumed and whether the oil companies will have to pay the remainder of their debt.
