murder in Bamako by CMA leaders,

Sidi Brahim Ould Sidati, the current chair of the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA), died at a clinic in Bamako, Mali. Earlier in the morning, he had been the subject of gunfire outside his home.

as reported from Bamako, Serge Daniel

Sidi Brahim Ould Sidati was in front of his home in Bamako, early on Tuesday morning, when a two-wheeler arrived at its height. Two people were on the vehicle, and one of them, according to witnesses, then fired. The incumbent president of the CMA was affected, as was one of his followers.

They were transported very quickly to a clinic in Malia’s capital. Sidi Brahim Ould Sidati, who was admitted to the operating room, succumbed to his injuries. His relatives do not hide it: he fell victim to a murder. “The two men on motorcycles had come to murder him, kill him”, trusted a member of his entourage.

Sidi Brahim was initially Secretary General of the Azawad Arab Movement, MAA. Originally from northwestern Mali, he joined the CMA, which originally brought together armed movements hostile to Bamako. It is in the name of all these movements that he signed on 20 June 2015 Algiers’ peace and reconciliation agreement with the Malian government. He is therefore an important figure in the previous uprising that has just been murdered in Bamako.
