A relentless downpour exceeding 12 hours has inundated Lagos, resulting in submerged properties and blocked roads that have left both motorists and commuters in a bind. Residents have resorted to bailing water from their homes in a desperate attempt to safeguard themselves from the flooding.
In response to the crisis, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sanctioned the dredging of an additional 28 primary drainage channels. He emphasized that the interplay between the Atlantic Ocean, Lagos Lagoon, and nearby water bodies, especially during high tide, significantly hinders the swift discharge of stormwater into the sea.
