Several fish have been found dead off the Ghanaian coast in recent days, the cause of which is unknown. In neighboring Togo, these fish are on the market in some cities near the border. The first recovered are currently seized and destroyed.

This is the meat of dolphins and smoked tuna cut as venison sold at the Kpalimé market in the southwest, 126 km from the capital Lomé. Missahoe, 15 km from the city, is a porous border with Ghana from where these fish have crossed the border.

“According to our investigations, the veterinary service’s stock was occupied by about 10 kg of this smoked fish and was immediately destroyed,” said Agbeneva komlan Alovo, of the Kloto Prefectural Directorate for Livestock and Rural Development.
