Islamists are preparing to enter

In Algeria, the Movement of the Society for Peace (MSP) on Wednesday welcomed its legislative result despite a record-breaking vote. With 64 seats won in the National People’s Congress, this party ideologically comes close to the Muslim Brotherhood therefore in second place in the vote.

On Wednesday, during a press conference, Abderrazak Makri, head of the Society for Peace Movement, said he was open to participating in the next government under conditions. “We will study the proposal to participate in the government by reviewing its program and its political vision,” he said.

According to political scientist Hasni Abidi, “the Islamists want to participate in the administration of power in Algeria and never exercise the policy of the empty seat” and specify that “they know that time is in their favor”.

The Algerian Presidency has not reacted publicly to the statements made by MPS, but negotiations are under way discreetly pending the final announcement of the outcome of the legislative elections.

In fact, Abdelmajid Tebboune is on the verge of forming a government with national understanding that will unite the various winning parties in the early June 12 elections.

According to the new constitution in 2020, the majority in the parish must consist of 204 seats, which is obligatory National Liberation Front, which had 105 seats to ally with the National Democratic Rally, and also with the Islamists from the MSP and with independent, to have 51% of the parliament.

The MSP had several government ministers in the mid-1990s and chose to go into opposition in 2012 after the Arab Spring. He retired again in 2019 and opposed a new term for President Bouteflika.
