NAIROBI, Kenya – A devastating inferno at a Chad military storage depot claimed nine lives and left over 40 others nursing injuries, according to an official on Wednesday.
Government spokesperson Abderaman Koulamallah disclosed that 46 individuals were treated for various injuries following late-night explosions in N’Djamena’s Goudji district on Tuesday. The situation is under control now, Koulamallah noted.
“Frantic efforts were made to douse the flames while residents bolted from their abodes for safety,” he added. The precise catalyst behind the blaze remains unknown, with President Mahamat Deby Itno announcing an imminent probe.
