He expressed hopes for Swan’s effective execution of his new responsibilities, as per a statement from the Somali Presidency.
James Swan, the Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia and the Head of UNSOM, arrived in Mogadishu on Sunday to bolster efforts towards stabilization. Swan’s visit follows Somalia’s formal request for the UN to end UNSOM’s mandate in the country, after a thorough review of its strategic goals.
