Eritrean soldiers reportedly work in others

How far does the Eritrean army’s intervention in Ethiopia continue? Since the beginning of November, troops from Asmara have been present in large numbers in the province of Tigray, where they are fighting together with Addis Ababa against the TPLF rebels. Today, the main opposition party in the Oromia region also accuses the Eritreans of intervening in support of Ethiopian soldiers in the western part of the country to put down an Oromo uprising.

as reported from Addis Ababa, Noé Rochet-Bodin

Oromo’s liberation front talks about a secret agreement between the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments to allow Asmara’s troops to intervene in Ethiopia, where points of instability are growing.

This would be the case in three Ethiopian regions. In Tigray for almost seven months officially. But the OLF also indicates the presence of Eritrean soldiers in the provinces of Benishangul-Gumuz and Oromia. They were to be deployed in the western part of the latter, especially to fight the OLA, Oromo’s Liberation Army, a guerrilla growing in the countryside.

Like Tigray, the OLF accuses the Eritrean soldiers of atrocities in Oromia. Large-scale crime, looting and rape.

The party calls on the African Union and the United Nations to put pressure on Eritrea. Asmara is already in Washington, demanding that the troops stationed in Tigray be withdrawn.
