the parties are working together for the 2021 presidential election

Following an eventful referendum in 2015 and a presidential election marked by protest and violence in 2016, Congolese political actors decided to suspend their violins before the 202 presidential election. Consultations are therefore being held until Friday 27 November in Madingou, in the south of the country.

as reported from Brazzaville,Loïcia Martial

The political parties were invited to this consultation in view of their importance. This is how the Congolese Labor Party (PCT), the majority formation of the majority, takes the lion’s share with fifteen representatives. The PCT is closely followed by the Pan African Union for Social Democracy (Upads), the largest opposition force. Upads officially has four seats.

The other parties are satisfied with the minimal part. Delegations from the Electoral Commission, civil society, are also taking part in this consultation, which is not the first of its kind. The only bulletin experienced during the 2016 presidential election was a performance of a consultation held long before.

The opposition demands a review of the election file and the introduction of biometrics

In Madingou, the opposition is keen to obtain electoral control, which involves a review of the electoral roll and the introduction of biometrics. “We are not leaving Madingou empty-handed. They will not be drunk either, says opponent Jean-Jacques Yhombi Opango.

Prior to the Madingou meeting, several participants spoke with Francois Lounceny Fall, a representative of the UN Secretary-General in Central Africa who lived in Congo.
