The Kasai area is a stronghold of President Tshisekedi, but most of the governors, as deputies, come from the ranks. of the Congo Common Front (FCC) by Joseph Kabila. Former Governor of Kasai Oriental and FCC Deputy Chairman Alphonse Ngoyi Kasanji explain why he came to the consultations, even though the FCC does not officially go: “We came here, me and my political family, and therefore I came after consultations with my political hierarchy . It was our duty to provide the President of the Republic with the wishes of our people, especially with regard to infrastructure. ”
The Kasai area is actually five of the most locked provinces in the country.
A dozen Greater Katanga deputies also made the trip, including members of the FCC. The former director of Gecamines, the state-owned mining company and deputy Calixte Mukasa speaks in favor of this decision: “We have given special consideration to the uncertainty that exists in our provinces. And we also talked about economics and economics, especially given the catastrophic situation for our portfolio companies. ”
Consultations can even be extended until next week due to the arrival of delegations from other provinces, the presidency explains. Governors are also expected. At the same time, while the FCC ensures that it does not prohibit certain members of power from consulting, the Kabila Coalition continues to convene all deputies around the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly and the Coordinator of the FCC.
