Revival Churches presented their

Following the National Bishops’ Conference (Cenco) for Catholics and the Protestant Church of Christ in the Congo (ECC), the awakening churches, once silent on socio-political issues and considered close to those in power, are breaking their silence.

The three main religious denominations of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), divided on dogmatic issues, are merging for the first time to demand that credible elections be held within the 2023 constitutional deadline.

The evangelical churches are therefore mobilized in turn. For their president, the prophet Dodo Israël Kamba, the election plan should not be the subject of any debate. “Our demands for respect for the Constitution, it is on this basis that we believe it is valid and appropriate that the elections be held in 2023. The priorities are the measures that must be taken in good time to hold good elections. Transparent, free and peaceful elections . ”

The revealed roadmap has no detailed timeline or timeline. But it includes generic sections and an initial request for election observation. It also stipulates that the churches participate in the campaign to mobilize the population around the election issue.

“Another thing is the preparation for the training teams that have to come down throughout the republic to do the job. For popularization, we have people to train who go down to the field, we prepare men to organize meetings and conferences on the subject. We are in perfect communion with the Catholic Church. ”

Revival Churches, like the Protestants and Catholics, prefer to prioritize the installation of a new leadership team for the Electoral Commission before fighting for the other reforms. This is causing a stir in civil society as well as the opposition.
